Alisha Riff, a hair stylist with the Haven Salon, gives Jarid Rice a haircut as she volunteers at the United Way of King County’s Community Resource Exchange in Seattle. The one-day event is designed to provide opportunities for people who are homeless and facing other challenges to access resources and services available in the Seattle area. Organizers said more than 1,000 people passed through the event Wednesday, receiving free haircuts, donated shoes, and having the chance to talk with medical, social, and other providers who serve the homeless population.
